Flooding

This week was the first time since we've moved here that we couldn't get into town because of flooding. We've had a lot of rain already and Wed night we had another big storm. A 3 ft. section of Owl Hollow was washed away and about 1 mile from our house the road was flooded and impassable, but those two areas were okay later that morning. However, when we tried to get into town at 3:30 pm on Thurs, we came to this:

This is zoomed in on the above area:

Trucks were going through but no cars. Jim even saw a light weight truck get pushed sideways by the water. Needless to say, we turned around and came home. The meeting was canceled that night because only 2 out of 8 elders could get to the Hall.

Even though it was still flooded today (about half the depth and not moving as fast), we went ahead and went through. If I had been by myself, I would have turned around and went home again today.

We were a little nervous when coming home around 7 pm because we saw a barrier and flashing lights, but after watching others we realized it wasn't any worse, they just wanted to warn people because it was getting dark.

So that's our exciting news this week.
