Can't believe it's been so long since I've written a post. I've had stuff floating around in my head to say, but never got around to it. Looks like my last post was in October, so I'll pick up in November.
JoAnn came for another visit that month. As soon as she got here, we went to Wurstfest in New Braunfels (their version of Octoberfest). JoAnn was rolling her eyes in her head most of the night. I told her there was live music that I really liked and she looked at me with that "seriously?" look. The first time we went he played The Devil Went Down to Georgia. I stood there with my mouth open for the longest time because I had never heard, nor did I think it was possible, to play rock-n-roll on an accordion! Although the songs were different when we took JoAnn, she loved it. So the evening ended in success.
Did a lot more cooking/eating at home this time than last, so I tried to come up with some "fun" things. Something new for me was quiche. Never made it even though I like it. I did spinach, bacon and feta cheese, even though the recipe called for Swiss cheese. YUM!!! It came out great. I also made stuffed French toast a few days later as a tribute to years ago when I made it for JoAnn at Bethel. It was good too, but the quiche was definitely a hit.
We did end up finding a memorable place. Jim & I tried to go in the past, but they were closed for remodeling. Although I wanted to take JoAnn there, I couldn't remember the name or exactly where it was. We literally stumbled on it while taking a drive. We were seated at our own private deck, ordered drinks and enjoyed this view:
GORGEOUS!!! It's called Oasis on Lake Travis in Austin. It was a terrible drought year and the water level was super low, so normally the land you see in the middle of the pic is completely under water. We were really happy to finally find something this special on her last day!
Stay tuned for a few more updates since last October....
