Lesson Learned (again...)

The last congregation we served was VERY eclectic - people from all over the US and a few from other countries. They were so different that it was fun. I was genuinely sad to leave. Nothing outstanding to report in the ministry, but we sure had fun with the friends!

This week Jehovah continued to teach me how He takes care of us when we put Him first. This lesson has been repeated several times to me, but here’s our current experience:

We literally scrapped together every dollar we had to replace our car battery on Monday. We had about $10 left over between us with no money for gas or groceries, and we don't use credit cards anymore. We were driving back & forth every day (1.5 hours each way with traffic). So I prayed and told Jehovah I had to leave it in His hands because we were doing His will this week, and off we went Tuesday night to the meeting.

Wednesday the family who took us out for lunch also gave us $40, which we used for gas as we were out by the time we got home that afternoon. But it doesn't stop there...

Friday we decided I'd stay home to work since there wasn't enough time for Jim to bring me home and go back for the elder's meeting (we only have one car since we moved here). But when we got home late Thursday night, we discovered that a storm blew up our modem and (as we found out today) a wire in our house that the telephone line comes in on. I went to pick up a new modem box and when I realized there was still a problem, spent a couple of hours on the phone trying to get someone out here. When I went into town, I also took Jim’s box of change to the bank and we had $28 in change. So I bought enough groceries to get us by for the rest of the week. The bill came to $26, even though I bought a couple of extra things that we could have done without. : )

But it doesn't stop there...

By Saturday morning we only had enough gas to get back home, but as soon as we walked into the hall a brother came up and handed me a card with money in it. So we filled up with gas again!  But it doesn’t stop there…..

This month we have to fill up the propane tank at our property. It’s split between three households but our share is still substantial. We had no idea how we were going to come up with the amount. Plus I just cut back on work last month so I could continue to pioneer more comfortably. Jim worked a few days last month, but we aren't sure how much he made so were just hoping it would be enough. So.....

On the way home yesterday we were counting the cash & checks people gave us and it was enough to cover the bill with some extra too!

Some weeks we serve congregations and they don’t even ask for our expenses. But it always happens that when we have expenses we can’t cover, the congregation(s) we serve are very generous. Jehovah truly takes care of us better than we can ourselves!
